Friday, Sept. 11

• The Sacred Heart Parish in Stamford is planning a memorial for the victims of 9/11/01 at 12:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on Main Street in Stamford. If anyone wishes to have the name of one of the victims read during the memorial they may contact the parish office at (607) 652-7170 ext. 102 to provide the name.Following the service, light refreshments will be served.

Saturday, Sept. 12

• Farmers market each Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marketplace at the Mill, Bunn Mill on High Street in Richmondville. • Gas Drilling Topic at Andes Library 2:00pm - 4:00pm "What you need to know about gas drilling in the Catskills", a controversial issue, will be the topic of a dicussion. Making the presentation will be Wes Gillingham, program director for Catskill Mountainkeeper, a member-based advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the long-term health of the region and Anne Saxon-Hersh, an environmental writer and researcher who has written an artical on the subject. Call for more details. • For the second time, artists who participate in the Roxbury Arts Group's Whet Paint fundraiser, are being given an exhibition of work done in their studios at perhaps a more leisurely pace. What to Do With Your Music: A Music Marketing Primer for Independent Musicians. This presentation will take the form of a lecture and discussion. The presenter will meet with and consider the musical life, and creative output of as many participants as possible with the goal of suggesting strategies for effectively using recordings to further each participant's varying musical aspirations. • Pinhole Photography Workshop 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Kortright Centre in East Meredith. (raindate, Sunday, Sept. 20) with photographer Annie Gohde. After a very successful workshop last season, Gohde is back to lead this exciting class that will turn the gallery space into a giant camera obscura. Students will use provided pinhole cameras to capture images of our beautiful surroundings. The resulting photos will have a unique look and a refreshingly direct feel to them. • Schoharie County Chamber Member Benefit Breakfast 7:30 a.m.- During these tough economic times you can't afford NOT to be a member! Lapsit storytime is a special storytime designed for children 3-12 months old and their caregivers.
