5 more charged in rash of Mountaintop thefts

JEWETT — Five more arrests have been made and additional apprehensions are expected in a recent rash of home burglaries on the mountaintop, according to Greene County Sheriff Greg Seeley.

Seeley, in a press release issued Tuesday, said that Carl Lundwall, 27, Hensonville; Heather Stancek, 20, Windham; and Michelle Baio, 19, Hensonville, were all charged with 2nd degree burglary related to the ongoing investigation.

Sheriff’s deputies and investigators, working with the Windham Police Department and Greene County District Attorney’s office, snapped a string of recent break-ins on Nov. 21, announcing the arrest of Thomas Truskolaski, 27, Hensonville, and Aton-Re Abdulkhabir, 22, Windham, along with two other local men.

Truskolaski, at that time, was charged with three counts of 2nd degree burglary, 2nd degree menacing and 2nd, 3rd and 4th degree criminal mischief while Abdulkhabir was charged with 2nd degree burglary and 3rd degree criminal mischief, police said.

Fresh charges have now been filed against both Truskolaski and Abdulkhabir, including 2nd degree burglary and 5th degree criminal possession of stolen property against Truskolaski and 2nd degree burglary against Abdulkhabir, police said.

Truskolaski and Abdulkhabir were arraigned in Jewett Town Court as a result of the Nov. 26 allegations that stem from a home invasion in September 2008 at 32 Blackberry Drive in the town of Jewett. The two men were remanded back to Greene County jail where they have been held since the Nov. 21 arrests, police said.

Lundwall was arraigned in Town of Ashland Court and sent to Greene County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond while Stancek and Baio were arraigned and both released on their own recognizance pending a later court appearance, police said.

All of the arrests resulted from an investigation into a Nov. 19 armed robbery at a residence on Big Hollow Road in Maplecrest which led to the closure of multiple open burglary cases on the mountaintop, police said.

Stolen items including rifles, alcohol, televisions, clothing and skis were recovered after the Nov. 21 arrests in Abdulkhabir’s home at 27 Old Route 23 in Windham. police said.

More pilfered property has been found that was reported stolen from 32 Blackberry Drive including a plasma television, Sony Playstation, jewelry, antiques and collectibles. police said. A portion of these items were recovered at the residences of Truskolaski, Lundwall and Baio, police said.

" I agree we need to know the other two peoples names. How can you leave them out, as a citizen we need to protect our kids from violent offenders please daily mail give those names.Lock these guys up throw key away all of them "

" lock these guys up and throw away the key? they are already locked up, throwing away the key is not a solution. they made mistakes, everyone makes mistakes. and protect your kids? they didn't murder anyone, they robbed houses. there's a difference. and the other two were not mentioned because they shouldn't have to be. To be honest, one is innocent. and when the law says "Everyone is Innocent until proven guilty" Obvisiously that isn't true. because if it was, the one would not be in jail for a crime he DID NOT commit. so before you judge these people, get to know them. They aren't bad people, they just make bad mistakes. "

" All of these individuals have had previous run in with the law. The one accused of the home invasion in nov has been arrested many times and got a slap on wrist. Its not okay to go into someones house with a gun and rob them. They all need long sentences upstate so our towns are safe. This is not okay ten years at a prison not a jail is needed joba and mark right there needs to be consequences and harsh ones for home invading "

" I AM A RELATIVE TO ONE OF THE OFFENDERS IN THIS ARTICLE

I WILL ADDRESS EVERY COMMENT MADE BY THE PEOPLE ON THIS "BLOG"

Dear Markwyatt, jobachamberlin, jhville, Hermit, hacksom, travisbarker, britin, bobbarker, trish1019, frankbagley,

For those of you who are interested in this story due to the pure interest of a crime story. Or to the individual who is a constant night watcher of CSI: Miami; Las Vegas: This story is about my brother and for some reason I feel compelled to comment on every single comment made about this article and to those who commented on it.

Yes that's you Markwyatt. Not that I dont enjoy your banter! To me though you sound so oblivious and are just commenting on a story because it resides in your town? You have nothing better to do? Honestly, and not to be snippy but what is your attraction to this article?

Or to the lovely Jobachamberlin:

"as a citizen we need to protect our kids from violent offenders "

As the relative of this "offender" I totally understand where you are coming from as a "citizen"

Honestly, As a brother of this "offender;" it is truly hard to see you're own brother go threw such struggle, embarrassment, shame, hurt, suffering and depression.

Seriously, this could be an episode of 'Intervention' on A&E... and I realize that. ...My father I think has started to realize that he can't always bail his son out. Lawyers, public defenders, and a small fortune have gotten him out of trouble.

He has admitted that he was addicted too trouble on countless occasions. He doesnt really know how to assimilate into the general population. To be completely honest I dont know if there is a program that could help him and rejoin society as a person.

What this means - I don't know. I'm still trying to figure out myself. To further understand this situation I figure dissecting this entire article would be the best way to start. Coverage of this situation has reached a level where anyone can now Google him and pass judgments and can obtain a understanding of what his entire life is about. His potential. Should a person be prosecuted for home invasion to the point where they never can have the right to be involved in a community, social functions and a normal life ever again.

To Hacksom

"This is not okay ten years at a prison not a jail is needed joba and mark right there needs to be consequences and harsh ones for home invading "

What does this statement even mean?

Can you please enlighten me to what joba and mark.... blah blah blah.. means??

I don't get it. I understand your last statement when you stated:

"there needs to be consequences and harsh ones for home invading "

This makes sense!

What should those harsh consequences for home invading be?

Seclusion from society. Abandonment from their family because of the torture they've inflicted onto their family? These are the questions that I ask myself all too much. Typically any time I look at a family photograph or my father for that matter.

The subculture that my brother was a included in was fueled by graffiti, drugs, and dysfunctional behavior.

Back to answering the questions at large.

To britin,

Who are you? Can you please explain yourself?

See the sad truth is that my Brother the one involved in this article is a person. He got involved in shady things but doesn't deserve all the proposed penalties that have been suggested by a couple, multiple, or dozens of people. Even his family has turned their heads, and have retracted their hands of generosity and even their emotional support.

So to you britin... you really should think about the comments that you so nonchalantly make. I mean really, how would you like to be locked up and have the key thrown away? That is some Man in the Iron Mask, Leonardo DiCrapio stuff right there. Yes, I do have a sense of humor on the depressing, stressful, and basically, unfortunate, all encompassing topic that is a part of my personal life.

You are just as unsympathetic 'Bobbarker'

As for Trish1019 I actually am more interested in what you have to say? You exclaim that "I think you all know who the bad seeds are so I think that people need to stop the judging people as for baiuo she is not a bad seed by far so you need to let her be."

Who is Michelle Baio? Please contact me at johntrusk@hotmail.com

As for frankbagley...contact me too and please let me know why you think the they should be locked up. For how long? In what type of facility?

I think I've addressed everyone in this message. Please get back to me and let me know what you think.
