Ruth Louise Salvino
Amazing grandmother
SCHENECTADY — Beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Ruth Louise Salivno passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, brining to an end a long, happy and eventful life. Ruth was the daughter of the late Henry and Dora (Oliver) Plankenhorn.
Ruth was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and adoring husband of 60 years, Philip M. Salvino Sr. as well as her loving grandson, Nicholas P. Salvino, 17, of Galway, and great-grandson Duke Richard Keuneke of Denver, Colo.
Ruth is survived by her three children, Sharon Ann Carfora (Joseph) of Chapel Hill, N.C., Dawn Natole of Durham, N.C., and Philip M. Salvino (Mary Muldowney) of Galway. She is also survived by two sisters, Joan Ruckheim of Old Chatham and Carol Webster (Daniel) of Ipswich, Mass.
Ruth was an amazing grandmother to her six grandchildren, Renee and Christen Natole, Kelly and Joseph Carfora, and Amy and Nicholas Salvino. She had several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was raised in Catskill. Upon her marriage to Philip, the couple moved to Glenville where they raised their family. After 36 years of employment with General Electric, the couple retired to Lakeland, Fla. After the loss of her husband, Ruth moved to North Carolina to be closer to her family.
A memorial service and interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Athens will be held in celebration of their lives together. Details will be announced in the near future.
