Blanche E. ‘Betty’ Wynne


Gifted cook and beloved great-grandmother

SAUGERTIES — Blanche E. “Betty” Wynne, 84, a resident of Bennett Avenue for over 50 years, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at Kingston Hospital. She formerly made her home in Cementon, and years ago worked in the local dress factories, as well as being an assembler at FX Systems, and G.E. She was a member of the Saugerties Senior Citizens and parishioner of St. Mary of the Snow Church. She was a gifted cook who made delicious pies. She was a woman of strong family values, who loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



She was born Dec. 7, 1923 in Catskill, daughter of the late Harold and Milder Knapp Post.

Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Thornton of Saugerties; grandchildren: William and Mark Thornton, Beth Petramale, and Suzanne Filak. Her great grandchildren: Justin Lawless, Nicholas Petramale, Kaeli, Eric, Mitchell, and Brett Thornton, Stevie and Claire Filak. Her three sisters: Bertha Jeune and Antoinette Crommie, both of Catskill, and Mildred Sledzik of Connecticut. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, James Wynne, in 1981, and sister Pauline Reynolds, and two brothers, Foster and Harold Post.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Mrs. Wynne will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, 45 John St., Saugerties. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saugerties Food Pantry. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home.
