Bergami’s hat trick leads Lady Cats over Lady Titans

Catskill 4, Taconic Hills 3

CATSKILL — Rhiannon Bergami scored a hat trick in the final 10 minutes of play Monday to propel Catskill’s varsity girls soccer team over Taconic Hills by a 4-3 score in Patroon Conference action at Catskill.

Down 3-1 with time running out, Bergami found net with nine minutes left then tied it at 4:30 before scoring the eventual game-winner at 1:30.

Erin Hedges also scored and Ellen Story added an assist for the Lady Cats.

“It was pretty dramatic,” Lady Cats coach David Taylor said. “It was a game that Catskill shifted the momentum as the game wore on. Both teams were playing hard, (it was) a very physical contest and I think that Catskill just dug a little deeper and wanted it a little bit more.”

Lady Titans’ Rachel Gryner scored twice and Hara Aoki-Saffer scored once in the loss, while Sarah Baron and Marie Bailly both had an assist.

Rebecca Davis had eight saves on 12 shots in the loss while Meghan Baxter had 12 saves on 26 shots in the win.

Catskill (2-2, 1-2) plays at Chatham while Taconic Hills travels to Coxsackie-Athens Friday at 4 p.m.
