By Colin DeVries
ATHENS — Two men have been charged with burglarizing two homes off Route 9W in the town of Athens.
Michael T. Stanzione, 30, of Athens, was charged with burglary in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, both felonies. Paul R. Willford, 16, also of Athens, was also charged with two counts of burglary in the second degree.
Police said the two are suspected in the burglaries of two homes where a loaded .38-caliber handgun, approximately 100 rounds of ammunition, and $600 worth of Kennedy half-dollars were stolen.
State police recovered the items from a residence in Athens. Both men were arraigned before Town of Athens Judge James Robinson and ordered held in the Greene County Jail on $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond.
