C-A golf tops Hudson to start season
Indians 8, Bluehawks 4
FREEHOLD — Coxsackie-Athens opened up the Patroon Conference golf season with an 8-4 win over Hudson Tuesday at Thunderhart Golf Course in Freehold.
Coxsackie plays at Winding Brook against Ichabod Crane at 1 p.m. while Hudson hosts Taconic Hills at 4 p.m. Thursday
Results (C-A listed first): Rob Welch (48) lost to Stephanie Bednar (43); Justin Bushey (41) lost to Bradley Holmes (47); Matt DePace (53) def. Chris Palmateer (58); Bryan McDonald (51) def. Mark DiAnfrio (57); Denton Martin (54) def. Connor O’Neil (59); Zach Meyer (68) lost to Krystov Fout (60).

Ichabod Crane 10, Catskill 1
CATSKILL — Ichabod Crane defeated Catskill 10-1 in the Patroon golf opener Tuesday in Catskill, according to an e-mail from Cats coach Brian Smith.
For the Riders, both Josh Ingham (40) and Justin Mass (42) finished the day with sectional scores.
Catskill hosts Germantown in a non-league match today while Ichabod Crane hosts Coxsackie-Athens on Thursday in league action.

Taconic Hills 7, Greenville 5
GREENVILLE — Taconic Hills topped Greenville 7-5 Tuesday in the first Patroon golf match for both teams.
Titans’ Kyle Preusser and Spartans’ Jordan Marrone each shot sectional scores in their first time out on the course.
Taconic Hills is at Hudson while Greenville hosts Chatham at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Results (TH listed first): Kyle Preusser (44) lost to Jordan Marrone (39); Mike Jacobsen (48) def. Adam Therrian (50); Jeff Brown (65) lost to Colton Spahmer (56); Mike Carl (57) def. Jessie Staunch (65); Sam Lydon (64) def. Joe Elsbree (72); Nick Policastro (62) tied John Hicks (62).

Chatham 7 1/2, Cairo-Durham 4 1/2
CHATHAM — Chatham edged out Cairo-Durham 7 1/2-4 1/2 Tuesday in the opening match of the golf season for both squads.
Chatham plays at Greenville while Cairo-Durham travels to Catskill Thursday at 4 p.m.
Results (Chatham listed first): Ryan Boehme (44) def. Dakota Armstrong (46); Ricky Kopec (45) def. Gary Kern (54); Tommy Reamon (42) def. George Lord (44); Ryan Kozel (48) lost to B. Kerne (42); Brad Doty (46) def. Chris Notarnicola (71); Jordan Sirani (69) lost to Eric Kozminsky (64).

SUNDAY SOFTBALL
KINDERHOOK — The Northern Columbia Sunday Softball League wrapped up its season Sunday with Comalli being named the regular season champions.
Comalli defeated Kosco 11-10 to kick off the action Sunday. Comalli’s Sean Dugan and Ross Cox led the team going 3-for-4 at the plate. Mike Walsh went 3-for-3 and Sean Spain went 3-for-4 with a sac fly in the seventh inning to win the game.
Walsh tossed the complete game and had one strikeout.
Kosco’s Dan Leinung went 3-for-4, Al Qua went 3-for-4 with a triple and Rich Coons went 2-for-4 on the day.
Qua took the mound and gave up one walk in the loss.
In the second game of the final weekend Chatham Hardware beat Boll Excavating 16-8.
Hardware’s Matt Morgan lit up the batter’s box going 4-for-4 with a double and a triple. Brian Leamy went 3-for-4 with a double and Roger Pulver Jr. went 2-for-3 with a triple. Larry Perry gave up seven walks and struck out two batters to get the win.
Boll’s Chris Hlavac went 3-for-4, “Smokey” Smith went 2-for-3 with a double and Rory Hamilton went 2-for-2. Hamilton and Hlavac shared pitching duties giving up five walks and striking out two.
First Quality defeated Day’s Repair 10-8 and Chatham Hardware knocked off Day’s Repair 14-13 in a makeup game from earlier in the season.
Playoffs start Sept. 7 with Kosco taking on Boll Excavating and Day’s Repair playing First Quality Construction.

MID-HUDSON SOFTBALL
Palatine Park Pizza 26, Francesca’s 16
TIVOLI — Palatine Park Pizza beat Francesca’s 26-16 in Mid-Hudson Men’s Softball action over the weekend.
Palatine’s Steve Craft led the offensive strike going 2-for-4 with a home run. Greg Brown went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, Nate Novak went 2-for-3 with a homer, Mike Riter went 2-for-4 and A.J Brooks went 2-for-3 with a double.
Mike Randall took the mound and struck out two while walking one in the win.
Francesca’s Donny Coons went 3-for-4 with a double, Jimmy Minkler hit a triple and Jimmy Flair went 2-for-3. Coons gave up two walks on the mound in the loss.
