CATSKILL — Greene County Court Judge George J. Pulver Jr. sentenced a former Pizza Hut employee to serve two to four years in a state penitentiary for burglarizing his former workplace.
Greene County District Attorney Terry Wilhelm reported that on Sept. 25, 2007, a manager of the Pizza Hut on Route 9W in the village of Catskill opened the store one morning to find that money had been stolen from a safe.
An investigation conducted by the Catskill Police Department found that John Kemble, 38, had stolen $540 from the store’s safe.
There was no video surveillance to use as evidence in the case, prompting police to interview each employee of the restaurant.
Kemble admitted that he had stolen the funds during his interview, according to police. He had entered the store using a key he obtained.
Pulver sentenced Kemble on June 17 and he was remanded to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department for transfer to the New York State Department of Correctional Services.
