CAIRO — CATSKILL — A preliminary state lab test of a mystery white powder found July 24 in Catskill Greene County government offices showed it to be harmless, confirming authorities’ earlier statements.
A full Sheriff’s Department report is due next week on County Administrator Douglas Brewer’s desk.
A preliminary test reported Wednesday by the state government Wadsworth laboratories in Albany for anthrax, ricin, plague and other deadly diseases came out negative after the powder’s uncovering in an envelope in the Greene County government’s Clerk’s Department July 24.
