Catskill preps for Spring Rush ’07
By Andrea Macko
CATSKILL — After reinventing the annual Spring Rush in 2005, the Catskill High School Business Club is again proud to host another year of the successful triathlon.
Drawing participants from as far away as Virginia, the Spring Rush was started by a group of running enthusiasts more than 10 years ago as a countywide running, biking, canoeing and, eventually, skiing race.
And while the skiing portion of the competition has been eliminated, the event remains a growing success that has thrived as an important community event.
This year’s Spring Rush will begin 8 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Catskill High School and include a five kilometer run and 15 kilometer bike route, as well as a canoe/kayak race.
Spring Rush sponsors include Steiner’s Sports, the Fortnightly Club, Heart of Catskill Association, R.C. Lacy, Slater’s Great American, St. Lawrence Cement, Round Top Knit and Screening, Athens Generating and Cellular One.
